Nicole Perlroth, the technology reporter for the New York Times, on July 31st writes about the trial that was held due to the problems of the biggest smartphone companies Apple and Samsung. The writer draws the reader's attention by her introduction which states that the company Apple has brought witnesses against Samsung. The writer goes on by informing the reader more about the trial and about the arguments the lawyers from both companies have brought during the trial. The Apple lawyers gives evidences that the other companies especially Samsung has swiped their invention and express their frustration. The rest of the article is about how the Samsung laywers defend themselves, including giving evidences that the Apple products were inspired by Sony designed products. They also show a laywer's e-mail to someone, that asks for other companies' ideas and designs, naming other companies as 'enemies'. Then Perlroth ends the article by announcing the reader that the trial has not ended, and that it will continue next Friday.
The purpose of this article is to inform people about the conflict that the biggest companies in the world are having, since they use smartphones from these companies without having an idea of what is happening to sell more. By reading the article, another purpose seems to be that people are always in a competition. No matter how good they are, how rich they are, they are always trying to be better than the other.
