http://www.theatlantic.com/china/archive/2013/04/can-china-stop-north-korea/274626/

On April 3rd, Matt Schiavenza, an associate editor at The Atlantic, wrote an article explaining on how Beijing as less influence over North Korea. he begins his article by explaining the recent threat that South Korea has received from the North. He says that Kim Jong Un, the new dictator of North Korea, has vowed to start a nuclear war. agains the South. Schiavenza says that Kim Jong Un, has prevented the workers from the South, to enter the Kaesong Industrial Park, that was once a symbol of hopeful reconciliation. United states steams and Beijing expresses they have regret and hope for peace on the North Korean peninsula. Schiavenza goes on to explain that Beijing protects many countries and are ready to stand up for the East China Sea, Japan and the Philippines, and China is the only North Korean ally, providing them with 80 percent of its consumer goods and 45 percent with food. Meaning that is China decides to stop providing for North Korea, they would collapse. Schiavenza points out that China, does not want them to collapse, because it would cause a messy humanitarian situation, and it would foster the creation of a unifies, pro-U.S. Korea on China`s northeastern flank, "depriving Beijing of a valuable buffer against American interest." because of this China need the North Koreans and as Schiavenza states it, "and North Korea knows it." Schiavenza finishes his article with a question, that can calm down anyones nerves but also make them tense. he says; "Is there a chance this situation might change?" the same answer to most possible question, yes it can, he says that Kim Jong Un put a Prime Minister who supports the Chinese-style, so the Kim Jong Un, may be open to think over the situation he is creating.

In this article Schiavenza presents a very strong topic that has been talked about in the last few weeks. He doe not one talk about weather or not China will be able to stop this war and privet the North Koreans to attack the South. His focus is on how China doesn't want a war, but they do not want North Korea to collapse. His diction throughout the article is very strong and assertive, he shows new points and new views of this situation. Schiavenza also uses allusions when he states and talks about Corporation and World War II. By the tone of Schiavenza voice, you can see that he, himself knows that there might be a very stung nuclear war, but to give hope to many people, Schiavenza states a very good and promising statement, he says that even though Kim Jong Un wants to start a war, the dictator put as one of his Prime Minister, a man that believes in the Chinese-style of economics, which may make the dictator think a little bit more about starting a war.
