http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2013/01/barack_obama_and_newtown_shooting_the_president_wants_to_push_for_gun_control.html

Slate's chief political correspondent, John Dickerson writes an outstanding and sticking article on the battle of gun control. He askes weather the current president of the United States, Barak Obama, will be able to make a law to prevent another massive killing. Dickerson states thought that this fight is being fought with emotion and organization. He continues to say that the Newtown killings slowed down the march of time; but aren't quotes sure why, but says that the only person who can close the window for action in the President Obama, even though the government claims it will be opened for a little longer than thirty days. Dickerson states that Obama hasn't said much on gun control over the past four years and after the tragedy he claims that he will do everything in his power to combat the root caused of gun violence. Dickerson also states everything the President; after the shooting, gave the Vice President, Baiden, a "to do" list to stop other shootings. Dickerson goes on to explain the process with the President Obama, would have to go through in order to imply the laws against, not only gun violence but also gun traffic, assault weapons, limit the size of high-capacity magazine clips, etc.

In this article Dickerson writes about the so promised battle against gun violence. He begins his article by reminding the readers about the previous killings in Newtown. He continues his article by saying that the current President, Obama, said that he would do anything in his power to fight agains gun control and violence. He also says that this battle is also being fought over emotion and organization. Dickerson states many important facts in his article to suppers his thesis. He uses strong diction to emphasize on the importance that the law agains gun violence and how it will not only bring but will benefit everyone in the nation. Dickerson finalizes his article by stating a very important sentence that also connects with the introuctionarly paragraph. He says "and how long he can keep the time from running out." In his intro he also asked "the window for action will stay open longer than 30 days this time. But how much longer?" Dickerson has a very stung points in his article, but it all has one idea and one final question… "The window to do something meaningful in the wake of the Newtown massacre is shrinking. Will Obama act in time?"

  1. I thought you did a very good job of explaining exactly what the author of this article tried to share with the readers. And I also think you did a great job on the analysis of the article. It was very straight tp the point and you showed that you understood what the author was saying.
    Good job!
